- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (architects, production, procurement, etc.) to ensure that designs align with project goals, manufacturing constraints, and client requirements.
- Modify and improve existing designs to optimize for cost, quality, and manufacturability.
- Conduct design reviews and provide technical input during project meetings to ensure design feasibility and alignment with production capabilities.
- Ensure that all designs comply with relevant building regulations, industry standards, and health and safety requirements.
- Provide support during the prototyping and manufacturing phases, troubleshooting design issues and implementing changes as needed.
- Prepare detailed technical drawings and documentation to support production, installation, and compliance processes.
- Keep up to date with advancements in modular construction technology and materials, integrating innovative solutions into design practices.
- Manage multiple design projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery of design outputs.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Design, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in design engineering, preferably within the construction or modular building sector.
- Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Revit, or similar).
- Strong knowledge of modular construction methods, materials, and regulations.
- Understanding of structural, mechanical, and electrical systems as they relate to building design.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and provide solutions to design and production challenges.
- Familiarity with building codes, health and safety standards, and relevant regulations.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple design tasks effectively.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in off-site modular building design or prefabricated construction.
- Knowledge of sustainability practices and materials in construction.
- Professional certification in engineering or construction-related fields (e.g., CEng, ICE, etc.).
- Experience with Building Information Modeling (BIM).
Person Specification:
- Technical Expertise: Proficient in CAD and other design software, with a strong understanding of construction design principles and modular building techniques.
- Problem-Solving Ability: Able to identify and resolve design challenges, ensuring that solutions are practical, cost-effective, and compliant with regulations.
