Position Overview:
The roles and responsibilities of a Maintenance and Faciilities Electrician is to ensure safety compliance of all electrical installations and equipment (present and new) in group companies. To effect fast and cost-effective diagnosis and repair of same.
Duties: Operate as a key member of the Group Facilities and Maintenance team under the Facilities Manager over three sites. Perform the role of first response electrical lead within the team on electrical based tasks resulting from equipment failures or new installations.
The ideal candidate should be able to:
- Work with minimal of supervision in the diagnosis and repair of electrical installations and equipment.
- Apply current electrical legalisation and best practice to the design, planning, installation and routine maintenance of electrical systems and equipment.
- Work with their own initiative to bring about timely and cost-effective solutions to daily electrical tasks with due regard to safety and compliance at all times.
- Provide assistance to other facilities team members where possible and develop / expand knowledge in basic mechanical systems if possible.
Essential Criteria:
- NVQ Level 3 qualification in electrical installations and equipment.
- Experience preferably in an industrial setting. In depth knowledge and practical application of BS 7671 – 18th Edition.
- Experience in three phase and single-phase installations. This includes the installation and repair of pumps, motors, drives, inverters, compressors, sensors, transducers et al.
- Diagnosis and repair / replace basic control circuit boards. Ability to interpret circuit diagrams.
Desirable:
- Working knowledge of mechanical systems such as pneumatics, hydraulics, heating systems, ventilation / extraction. Good planning and time management skills.
- Experience of current fire detection and intruder detection systems.
- Experience of modern energy managements and BIMS (Building Information Systems) would be an advantage.
