Job Summary:
As the Factory Manager for JANS Group’s Modular Division, you will be responsible for leading and managing all aspects of the production process for off-site modular solutions across sectors including park homes & leisure, social housing, and commercial & industrial markets. Working closely with functional heads of departments, you will ensure efficient production processes, adherence to quality standards, and that health and safety regulations are met. The role demands strong leadership, strategic planning, and operational oversight to ensure the division meets its performance, cost, and delivery objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
Production Management:
- Oversee all production activities in the factory to ensure timely delivery of high-quality modular units.
- Develop and implement production schedules that align with project deadlines and customer specifications.
- Work closely with the engineering team to optimise manufacturing processes and improve efficiency.
- Lead problem-solving initiatives to address production challenges and ensure continuous improvement.
Supply Chain Management:
- Collaborate with the procurement and supply chain teams to manage material sourcing, inventory, and logistics.
- Ensure that materials and components are delivered on time to meet production requirements.
- Establish strong relationships with suppliers and contractors to optimise supply chain performance.
Health, Safety, and Compliance:
- Ensure the factory operates in compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Implement and enforce safety policies, procedures, and practices in line with industry standards.
- Conduct regular health and safety audits to ensure the well-being of all employees and compliance with legal obligations.
Quality Control:
- Oversee quality assurance protocols to maintain the highest standards of product quality.
- Ensure modular units meet both internal and external regulatory and client standards.
- Work with the quality team to implement continuous improvement processes and conduct root cause analysis for any quality issues.
Team Leadership and Development:
- Lead, manage, and develop the production team, ensuring optimal workforce performance.
- Foster a positive, high-performance work environment where innovation, collaboration, and efficiency thrive.
- Identify training and development needs to ensure team members have the necessary skills to excel.
Engineering and Innovation:
- Collaborate with the engineering and design teams to support innovation in modular construction.
- Ensure that production equipment and technology are maintained and upgraded as required to support the growth of the business.
Budget and Cost Management:
- Work with senior management to create and manage production budgets, ensuring cost-effective operations.
- Identify opportunities to reduce costs while maintaining quality and safety standards.

Person Specification: Factory Manager – Modular Division
Qualifications & Experience:
Essential:
- Proven experience in a factory or production management role, ideally within the modular construction, manufacturing, or off-site construction sectors.
- Strong knowledge of production processes, supply chain management, and lean manufacturing techniques.
- Demonstrable experience managing a team, with strong leadership and mentoring capabilities.
- Comprehensive understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations within a manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with quality control and assurance systems in a manufacturing setting.
- Excellent organisational and project management skills.
Desirable:
- Experience in manufacturing for sectors such as park homes & leisure, social housing, and commercial/industrial markets.
- Engineering or technical qualification (degree or vocational training in manufacturing, production engineering, or related fields).
- Lean Six Sigma or equivalent qualifications.
