Job Overview: JANS is seeking a talented CAD Engineer to join our innovative Composites division. Reporting to the Engineering Manager and Lead Engineer, you will be responsible for handling CAD tasks, designing and tooling new products, and managing projects on a customer-specific basis. This is a varied role that offers opportunities to contribute to cutting-edge projects and sustainable solutions in the composites industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and deliver innovative solutions for new product development in line with customer requirements.
- Ensure design outputs meet required parameters, maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
- Uphold departmental processes to meet ISO standards, both internally and for customer-specific requirements.
- Take ownership of New Product Introduction (NPI) and Engineering Change processes, ensuring smooth project transitions.
- Provide technical support to the sales team, aiding in commercial bids and customer engagement.
- Manage personal time effectively to contribute to the department’s growth and capacity expansion.
- Participate in R&D efforts focused on bio-friendly and sustainable composite products, collaborating with partner businesses.
- Support production departments by troubleshooting, implementing corrective actions, and driving Continuous Improvement initiatives.
- Assist the Executive team in delivering the annual business plan.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
- A degree in Engineering or a related field.
- Significant experience with Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software, such as Creo or SolidWorks.
- Familiarity with Finite Element Analysis (FEA), graphics, and other relevant software packages.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Proficient in understanding and interpreting product specifications and technical drawings.
- Excellent planning and organizational skills, with a results-driven mindset and strong customer focus.
Desirable Skills:
- Experience with a variety of CAD software packages.
- Knowledge of Glass-Reinforced Plastic (GRP) mould design and manufacturing methodologies.
- Understanding of materials and their properties, particularly in composites.
- Experience working in a fast-growing, dynamic organization.
- Hands-on experience managing design activities in a manufacturing environment, particularly in support of customer tenders.
- Familiarity with New Product Introduction (NPI) and Change Management processes.
